  3. The Club’s purpose is to investigate and study the development of submarine technology. The club will also work towards competing in the International Submarine Races held annually at the Carderock Naval Surface Warfare Center in Washington DC. The Club’s specific goals are: •Study and investigate submarine technology. •To foster advances in subsea vehicle transportation. •To increase public awareness of the challenges people face in working in and exploring the ocean depths. •To inspire students of the various engineering disciplines to delve into broad areas of underwater technology and transportation, and provide an educational experience that translates their theoretical knowledge into reality. •To build and successfully race a one/two person human powered submarine.
